Visit our Suri Alpaca Farm

Here at our farm, you can see Alpacas and know what it is like to take care of them.  Be here to help feed the animals at mealtime or help take one of the alpacas on a walk through the farm.  See how these animals interact with one another, feel the soft and lustrous suri alpaca fleece, and see and feel the fine garments we make from them.

Alpaca Farming is a Good Family Business

Alpaca farming is a good family business.  It is a lot of fun and even the hardest chores make you feel good because you are surrounded by these peaceful animals.  I find working with and around alpacas lifts my spirit.  Whenever I start to feel depressed, I go outside and do something for the alpacas.

Fleece from Suris

Suri alpacas have a soft and lustrous fleece. The same physical trait that gives shine to alpaca fleece is also partly responsible for making suri alpaca fleece soft. Suri Alpaca fleece is soft for two reasons, the fiber diameter is relatively small and each individual fiber surface is smooth.

The picture of suri alpaca batting to the right shows the incredible luster of suri alpaca fleece.

Camelids

Alpacas are Camelids, along with Llamas, Vicuna, Guanaco, and the more commonly known Bactrian (two hump) and Dromedary (one hump) camels. I call the South American camels the no hump camels.

There are two types of alpacas. They are Huacaya alpacas or Huacayas, and Suri alapcas or Suris.

We breed suris because we think they are the most elegant livestock in the world. Suris have large dark eyes with long eyelashes. They have long necks and their adorable heads are topped with a mop of locks called a topknot. In full fleece suris are fluid in motion as their long silky locks sway in rythem with their confident walk.
